The Black Demon 2023: The producers of The Black Demon would have been smart to consider this. A potentially cool premise is interrupted by a shark that’s rendered with the kind of blurry CGI that makes everything look grainy and fake. When you’re ready to suspend your disbelief over a picture like this and find you can’t, the whole experience sucks. Paul Sturgess works for the Nixon Oil Company. They send him to Baja, where his job is to perform a safety inspection on part of an offshore platform. He is accompanied on the trip by his wife Inés (Fernanda Urrejola), his teenage daughter Audrey (Venus Ariel), and his young son Tommy (Carlos Solorzano). They must stand aside to rest while he works. After an encounter with some dangerous locals, they board a motorboat and risk being sidetracked. What Paul discovers is shocking. Apart from the two men, the platform is completely abandoned. And a giant megalodon shark floating in the water around him. This local legend, known as the “Black Demon”, not only eats people but is also believed to have the power to play with the mind of anyone who enters the water. When he destroys his way back, everyone is stranded. Paul must find a way to save the family from him before the creature devours them or destroys the platform, drowning them in the ocean.
